THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH

Zechariah Chapter 5

¶ Then I turned, and looked up, and saw a flying scroll.

And he asked me, What do you see? And I answered, I see a flying scroll; it is twenty cubits long, and ten cubits wide.

Then he said to me, This is the curse that is going out over the whole land: because every one who steals will be removed from here as it says on this side; and every one who swears falsely will be removed from here as it says on the other side.

I will send out the curse, says the LORD of hosts, and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of any man who swears falsely by my name: and it will remain in his house, until it has destroyed it along with its timber and its stones.

¶ Then the angel who talked with me went out, and said to me, Look up now, and see what is coming.

And I said, What is it? And he said, This is a measuring basket that is coming. He then added, This is their iniquity through all the land.

And, behold, a lead cover was lifted: and there was a woman sitting in the basket.

And he said, This is wickedness. And he pushed her down into the basket; and pushed the lead cover down over its opening.

Then I looked up, and saw two women approaching, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted the basket up between heaven and earth.

Then I said to the angel who talked with me, Where are they taking the basket?

And he said to me, To build a shrine for it in the land of Shinar: and when it is ready, the basket will be placed there on its own pedestal.
