THE SONG OF SOLOMON

The Song of Songs Chapter 2

¶ I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.

As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the young maidens.

¶ Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the sons. I delight to sit down in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

Sustain me with raisins, refresh me with apples: for I am sick with love.

His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me.

I charge you, O you daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles, and by the wild does of the field, that you do not stir up, or awaken my love, till he please.

¶ I hear the one I love! look, there he comes leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.

My beloved is like a gazelle or a young deer: look, he stands behind our wall, looking through the windows, peering through the lattice.

My beloved spoke, and said to me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

Look, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;

The flowers appear on the ground; the time of the singing has come, and the cooing of the turtledove is heard in our land;

The fig tree puts out its green figs, and the grapevines blossom and send forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

¶ O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places of the cliffs, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

My beloved is mine, and I am his: he pastures his flocks among the lilies.

Until the day breaks, and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young deer on the mountains that separate us.
