The third rule of Hermeneutics
(Bible interpretation) is
this, "The only valid meaning of the
words of Scripture is the plain grammatical meaning of the words, the
meaning ascribed to those words in everyday usage according to their context, the same meaning you are ascribing to my
words as you read them". This rule rests
firmly on the doctrine of the clarity of Scripture,
and is
also
taught by the words, "We have not
written anything to you, other than what you read or understand"
(2Corinthians 1:13). Furthermore, the
alternative
(interpreting the Bible to make its words say something other than they
actually say) is condemned by all of
the passages that tell us not to add to or take away from the words of
Scripture
(Rev. 22:18-19).
Those who
would reinterpret the words of Scripture in a vain attempt to make them
agree with or even teach
the unscientific myth of evolution violate
this rule of Hermeneutics. And because their interpretations contradict
what the Bible plainly says (Exodus 20:11), those interpretations must
be rejected as false (Isaiah 8:20). The
fact that these people ignore the thousands
of scientists who reject evolution, and choose to
believe the
atheist scientists tells me that man's word has replaced God's Word as
the authority in their lives.
