1. WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES TEACH OF THE CREATION OF ANGELS
?
THE BIBLE SAYS -
(a) Ex. 20:11. In six days the Lord made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that in them is.
(b) Gen. 1:31. God saw everything that He had made, and,
behold,
it was very good.
FROM THIS WE LEARN -
(A) God created the angels within the six days of creation.
(B) All angels were created good.
2. WHAT INFORMATION HAVE WE ABOUT THE GOOD ANGELS ?
THE BIBLE SAYS -
(a) Ps. 104:4. (He) maketh His angels SPIRITS.
(b) Matt. 25:31. The Son of Man shall come in His glory, and
all his holy angels with Him.
(c) Rev. 5:11. I beheld, and I heard the voice of MANY
angels...;
and the number of them was TEN THOUSAND TIMES TEN THOUSAND, AND
THOUSANDS
OF THOUSANDS.
(d e f) Ps. 103:20,21. BLESS THE LORD, ye His angels, that
EXCEL IN STRENGTH, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice
of His Word. BLESS YE THE LORD, all ye His hosts, ye ministers of His,
that DO HIS PLEASURE.
(g) Heb. 1:14. Are they not all ministering spirits, sent
forth to minister for them who shall be HEIRS OF SALVATION ?
(g) Ps. 91:11, 12. He shall give His angels charge over thee,
to KEEP THEE in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands,
lest
thou dash thy foot against a stone.
(g) Luke 16:22. The beggar died, and was CARRIED BY ANGELS
INTO ABRAHAM'S BOSOM.
FROM THIS WE LEARN -
(A) The good angels are spirits.
(B) They are holy.
(C) They are very numerous.
(D) They are very strong.
(E) They praise God.
(F) They carry out His commands.
(G) They serve especially God's children.
3. DID ALL ANGELS REMAIN GOOD ?
THE BIBLE SAYS -
2 Pet. 2:4. God spared not THE ANGELS THAT SINNED.
Mark 5:9. and He asked him, What is thy name ? And he
answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
FROM THIS WE LEARN -
Many holy angels sinned and thus
became
evil angels.
4. WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES TELL US CONCERNING THE EVIL
ANGELS
?
THE BIBLE SAYS -
(a) 2 Pet. 2:4. God spared not the angels that sinned, but
cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to
be reserved unto judgment.
(b) Eph. 6:11, 12. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye
may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not
against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness
in high places.
(c d) Matt. 13:25, 39. While men slept, His enemy came
and sowed tares among the wheat... The enemy that sowed them is the
devil.
(c d) 1 Pet. 5:8,9. Be sober, be vigilant; because YOUR
ADVERSARY
the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, SEEKING WHOM HE MAY
DEVOUR:
whom resist stedfast in the faith.
FROM THIS WE LEARN -
(A) The evil angels are forever rejected by God and doomed
to hell.
(B) They, as their leader, called the devil and Satan, are
cunning and powerful.
(C) They are the enemies of God and of man.
(D) They seek to destroy the works of God and to lead man
into eternal damnation.
5. WHAT HAPPENED SOON AFTER ADAM AND EVE HAD BEEN CREATED
AND
PLACED INTO THE GARDEN OF EDEN ?
THE BIBLE SAYS -
(a b) Gen. 2:16,17; Gen.3. (read these passages.)
*(a) 1 John 3:4. Sin is the transgression of the Law.
(a) 1 John 3:8. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for
THE DEVIL SINNETH FROM THE BEGINNING.
(b) Rom. 5:12. BY ONE MAN sin entered into the world.
FROM THIS WE LEARN -
(A) The devil, in the form of a serpent, tempted man to
transgress
God's Law and thus to sin.
(B) Man of his own free will yielded to the temptation
of
the devil and sinned.
6. WHAT IS NOW THE NATURAL CONDITION OF ALL MEN ?
THE BIBLE SAYS -
(a) Gen. 5:3. Adam... begat a son is his own likeness,
after
his image.
*(a) Ps. 51:5. Behold, I was SHAPEN IN INIQUITY; and IN SIN
DID MY MOTHER CONCEIVE ME.
(a) John 3:7. That which IS BORN OF THE FLESH IS FLESH.
(b) Rom. 7:18. I know that in me (that is, in my flesh)
dwelleth
NO GOOD THING.
(c) Gen. 8:21. The imagination of man's heart is evil from
his youth.
(d) 1 Cor. 2:14. The natural man receiveth not the things
of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness unto him; neither
can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
(e) Eph. 2:1. (Ye) were DEAD in trespasses and sins.
(f) Rom. 8:7. The carnal mind is ENMITY against God.
(g) Eph. 2:3 (We) were by nature the CHILDREN OF WRATH, even
as others.
*(g) Rom. 6:23. The wages of sin is death.
FROM THIS WE LEARN -
(A) All men, being descendants of Adam, the sinner, are
conceived
and born in sin and bear their sinful father's image.
(B) There is no spiritual good in their heart at birth.
(C) They are inclined only to evil.
(D) They are spiritually blind.
(E) They are spiritually dead.
(F) They are enemies of God.
(G) On account of this condition (called original sin, birth
sin, or the Old Adam) all men are by nature under the wrath of God and
doomed to death and damnation.
7. WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF ORIGINAL SIN ON OUR LIVES ?
THE BIBLE SAYS -
Matt. 7:17. A corrupt tree bringeth forth EVIL FRUIT.
Matt. 15:19. Out of the heart proceed EVIL THOUGHTS, MURDERS,
ADULTERIES, FORNICATIONS, THEFTS, FALSE WITNESS, BLASPHEMIES.
Jas. 4:17. To him that KNOWETH TO DO GOOD, and DOETH IT
NOT, to him it is sin.
FROM THIS WE LEARN -
Original sin brings forth a great variety of sinful thoughts,
desires , words, and deeds, called actual sin. (Sins of commission and
sins of omission.)
8. HOW ARE MEN SAVED FROM THE RUINOUS CONSEQUENCES OF THE
FALL?
THE BIBLE SAYS -
(a) Gen 3:14, 15. The Lord God said unto the
serpent...
* I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed
and
HER SEED; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise HIS heel.
(b) Acts 10:43. To Him (Jesus Christ, the Woman's Seed) give
all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in
Him shall receive remission of sins.
*(c) Rom. 1:16. I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it
is the POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION TO EVERYONE THAT BELIEVETH.
FROM THIS WE LEARN -
(A) Immediately after the fall God promised our first parents
a Savior who would deliver them and their descendants from the power of
the devil.
(B) The Old Testament prophets continually pointed their
people
to this coming Redeemer in order that they might have forgiveness of
sin
and heaven by believing in Him.
(C) The Gospel (good news) of Christ is the power of God unto
salvation to everyone that believeth.
