THE BOOK OF PSALMS

Psalm 105

¶ O give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name: make his deeds known among the nations.

Sing to him, sing psalms to him: tell about all his wonderful works.

Glory in his holy name: let the heart of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face forevermore.

Remember the marvelous things that he has done; his wonders, and the judgments he has pronounced;

O you descendants of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen.

He is the LORD our God: his judgments govern all the earth.

¶ Remember his covenant forever, the promise that he ordained for a thousand generations.

The covenant that he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac;

Which he confirmed to Jacob as a decree, and to Israel as an everlasting covenant:

Saying, I will give to you the land of Canaan, measured out as your inheritance:

When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and sojourners in it.

When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another;

He did not allow any man to do them wrong: yea, he rebuked kings for their sake;

Saying, Do not touch my anointed ones, or harm my prophets.

Moreover he called for a famine on the land: and destroyed the entire food supply.

He sent Joseph before them, who was sold as a slave:

They hurt his feet with chains: and iron cut into his neck:

Until the time when what he said came true: the word of the LORD tried him.

The king sent someone to release him; the ruler of the nations let him go free.

He made him master of his palace, and ruler over all he possessed:

To train his officers as he pleased; and teach his officials wisdom.

Israel also came to Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

And God increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

¶ They changed their minds so that they hated his people, and dealt treacherously with his servants.

He sent his servant Moses; and Aaron whom he had chosen.

They did his wonders among them, and miracles in the land of Ham.

He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they still rebelled against his word.

He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish.

Their land swarmed with frogs, even in their king’s bedroom.

He spoke, and swarms of different flies came, and lice were all over their country.

He gave them hail instead of rain, and flaming fire in their land.

He struck their vines and their fig trees; and smashed the trees in their land.

He spoke, and the locusts came, and caterpillars in countless numbers,

And they ate up all the plants in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

He also struck down all the firstborn in their land, the chief substance of all their strength.

He brought them out with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

The Egyptians were glad when they left: for a dread of Israel had fallen upon them.

He spread a cloud as a covering; and fire to give light in the night.

The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; and ran in the dry places like a river.

For he remembered his holy promise, and his servant Abraham.

And he brought his people out with rejoicing, and his chosen with gladness:

And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labor of the people;

That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise the LORD.
