MY REMEMBRANCE
OF
DR WALTER A MAIER
By Gary Ray
Branscome
During the late 1940s my father was a
regular listener to Dr. Walter A. Maier’s radio broadcast, “Bringing
Christ to
the Nations”. One Sunday, when I was four years old, I was making noise
while
my father was trying to listen. So he grabbed me, sat me down on a
footstool,
and told me to listen to what the man on the radio was saying. As I
listened I
will never forget how the words of Dr. Walter A. Maier gripped me. The
words
had power! After that I wanted to listen whenever the broadcast was on,
and the
words continued to grip me as I listened. For that reason, even though
I was
only five and a half years old when Dr. Maier died, I continued to
remember
those broadcasts, and remembering them helped me through the struggles
of my
teenage years. I knew the the power of the
gospel.
