THE BOOK OF JOSHUA

Joshua Chapter 16

¶ The allotment of the children of Joseph went from the Jordan by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, to the wilderness going up from Jericho to the hill country to Bethel,

Then went from Bethel to Luz, and proceeded along to the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

And went down westward to the territory of Japhleti, to the outskirts of lower Bethhoron, then to Gezer: and ended at the sea.

So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

¶ And the boundary of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: on the easy side of the border of what they inherited was Atarothaddar, as far as upper Bethhoron;

Then the boundary went out to the sea; on the north was Michmethah; and on the east the border went out to Taanathshiloh, and passing by it went on eastward to Janohah;

Then it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and ended at the Jordan.

The border went out from Tappuah westward to the river Kanah; and ended at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

And cities set apart for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all those cities with their villages.

But they did not drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, and serve under forced labor.
