THE BOOK OF JOHN

John Chapter 17

¶ After saying this, Jesus lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the time has come; glorify your Son, so that your Son may also glorify you:

As you have given him power over all men, glorify him so that he may give eternal life to as many as you have given him.

And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

I have glorified you on the earth: I have finished the work that you gave me to do.

And now, O Father, glorify me at your side with the glory that I had with you before the world was.

¶ I have revealed your name to the men that you gave me out of the world: they were yours, you gave them to me; and they have kept your word.

Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.

For I have given to them the words that you gave me; and they accepted them, and have learned the truth that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me.

I pray for them: I do not pray for the world, but for those whom you have given to me; for they are yours.

All that is mine is yours, and what is yours is mine; and I am glorified through them.

¶ I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep those whom you have given me safe through your name, that they may be one, as are we.

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name: I have kept those you gave me, and none of them is lost, except the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

But now I am coming to you; and I say these things while I am in the world, that the fullness of my joy might be in them.

I have given them your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you would protect them from evil.

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¶ Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth.

As you have sent me into the world, even so I have also sent them into the world.

And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

¶ Nor do I pray for them alone, but also for those who will believe on me through their word;

That all of them may be one; just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me.

And I have given to them the glory that you gave me; that they may be one, as we are one:

I am in them, and you are in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them, as you have loved me.

¶ Father, I also want those, whom you have given me, to be with me where I am; and to see my glory, the glory that you have given me: because you loved me before the creation of the world.

O righteous Father, although the world has not known you: I have known you, and they have come to know that you have sent me.

I have revealed you to them, and will continue to make you known: that the love you have for me may be in them, and I myself may be in them.
