THE BOOK OF JOB

Job Chapter 32

¶ So these three men stopped answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

Then Elihu the son of Barachel a descendant of Buz, of the family of Ram: became angry with Job, because he had justified himself rather than God.

He also became angry with his three friends, because they found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job, because the others were older than he.

But when Elihu saw that the three men had no answer, then he became angry.

¶ So Elihu the son of Barachel a descendant of Buz said, I am young, and you are old; therefore I was afraid, and did not dare to tell you my opinion.

I said, Age should speak, and a multitude of years should teach wisdom.

But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding.

Great men are not always wise: nor do the aged understand judgment.

Therefore I say, Listen to me; I will also give my opinion.

Behold, I waited for your words; I listened to your reasons, while you tried to find the right words to say.

Yes, I paid attention to what you said, and, behold, none of you convicted Job, or refuted his arguments:

Beware lest you say, We have found wisdom: God thrusts Job down, not man.

Now Job has not directed his words against me: nor will I answer him the way you did.

¶ Job’s friends were amazed, and did not try to answer Job. They had stopped speaking.

Should I wait, (because they do not speak, but stand there, and have nothing more to say;)

No, I will give my answer, I will also declare my opinion.

For I am full of words, the spirit within me constrains me.

Behold, my heart is like wine that has no vent; like new wineskins it is ready to burst.

I must speak, so that I can get relief: I will open my lips and answer.

Let me not, I pray you, be partial to anyone, nor will I flatter any man.

For I do not know how to flatter; if I did so my maker would soon take me away.
