THE BOOK OF ISAIAH

Isaiah Chapter 56

1 ¶ The LORD says, Remember my judgment, and do what is right: for I am ready to save you, and reveal my righteousness.

2 Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast; who keeps the sabbath without profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.

3 ¶ No foreigner, who has joined himself to the LORD, should say, The LORD has excluded me from his people: nor should the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

4 For the LORD says to the eunuchs who keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;

5 I will give to them a place in my house, and within my walls a name better than that of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that will not be cut off.

6 And give the same to the children of foreigners, who join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, to bless the name of the LORD, and to do his will, every one who keeps the sabbath without desecrating it, and embraces my covenant;

7 I will also bring them to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all people.

8 The Lord GOD who gathers the scattered people of Israel says, I will yet gather others to Israel, beside their own people who are already gathered.

9 ¶ All you beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all you beasts in the forest.

10 Israel’s watchmen are all blind: they know nothing, they are all dumb dogs, that cannot bark; they dream, lie down, and love to sleep.

11 Yea, they are greedy dogs that can never have enough, and they are shepherds who cannot understand: they have all turned away to go their own ways, every last one seeking his own gain.

  1. Come, they say, I will bring wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and it will be like this every day, only far better.
