THE BOOK OF ISAIAH

Isaiah Chapter 25

¶ O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will praise your name; for you have done wonderful things; your plans made long ago have been faithfully and truly carried out.

For you have turned a city into a heap; a fortified city into a ruin: a place of wanderers who have no city; it will never be rebuilt.

Therefore mighty nations will glorify you, and the cities of fierce nations will fear you.

For you have been a fortress for the weak, a protection for the poor in their distress, a refuge from the rain, a shade from the heat, when the breath of tyrants is like a winter storm.

As the heat in a dry land is reduced by the shadow of a cloud, you will quiet the commotion of aliens: and the song of tyrants will fade away.

¶ And on this mountain the LORD of hosts will prepare a rich feast for all people, a feast of aged wines, of elegant foods full of marrow, of fine filtered wines.

And on this mountain he will remove the veil of grief cast over all people, and the covering that is spread over all nations.

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; and he will remove the reproach of his people from all the earth: for the LORD has spoken.

¶ On that day they will say, This is our God; we have waited for him, and he has saved us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, let us rejoice that he has saved us, and be glad.

For the LORD’S hand will rest on this mountain, and Moab will be trampled under him, even as straw is trampled in a cesspit.

And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it, as a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim: but the Lord will bring down their pride in spite of the skillfulness of their hands.

He will throw down your high walls and fortifications, lay them low in the dust, and level them to the ground.
