THE BOOK OF ISAIAH

Isaiah Chapter 2

¶ The message that Isaiah the son of Amoz received concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

It will come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house will be established at the top of the mountains, and will be raised above the hills; and all nations will flow to it.

Then many people will say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the LORD’S instruction comes from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

And he will judge between the nations, and will rebuke many people: and they will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any more.

O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD.

¶ Surely you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of occult practices from the east, and are fortune-tellers like the Philistines, and they join hands with foreign people.

Their land is filled with silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end to their chariots:

Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

So when a man bows down, and men humble themselves, do not forgive them.

¶ Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust, from the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty.

The lofty looks of man will be humbled, and the haughtiness of men will be bowed down, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

For the LORD of hosts has a day when he will rise up against every one who is proud and haughty, and against all who exalt themselves; and they will be brought low:

And against all the high and lofty cedars of Lebanon, and against all the oaks of Bashan,

And against all the high mountains, and against all the lofty hills,

And against every high tower, and against every fortified wall,

And against all the ships of Tarshish, and against everything that is pleasant to see.

And the proud men will bow down, and the haughtiness of men will be brought low: and on that day the LORD alone will be exalted.

And he will utterly abolish the idols.

And men will go into holes in the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, to escape the terror of the LORD, and the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.

On that day men will throw the idols of silver and gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

And go into the caverns of the rocks, and into the crevices among the crags, to escape the terror of the LORD, and the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.

Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for of what account is he?
