HEBREWS

Hebrews Chapter 3

¶ Therefore, holy brethren, sharers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Jesus Christ;

As being faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all his house.

Yet he was counted worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the one who has built the house has greater honor than the house itself.

For every house is made by someone; but God made everything.

And Moses was faithful in all his house, as a servant, who was to testify to those things that would be said later;

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we continue to the end unshaken in our courage and the hope of which we boast.

¶ Therefore (as the Holy Ghost says, Today if you hear him speak,

Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert:

Where your fathers tempted me, and tried me, and saw what I did for forty years.

That is why I was angry with that generation, and said, They always err with the heart; and they have not known my ways.

So I swore in my wrath, They will not enter into my rest.)

See to it, brethren, that none of you has a wicked unbelieving heart, that turns away from the living God.

But encourage one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold firmly to the end the confidence that we had at first;

When the Bible says, Today if you hear him speak, do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.

Who were those who heard him, and yet rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?

And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert?

And to whom did God swear that they should not enter into his rest, but to those who did not believe?

And so we see that they could not enter because of their unbelief.
