GALATIANS

Galatians Chapter 1

¶ Paul, an apostle, (sent not by men, nor by any man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

And all the brethren that are with me, to the congregations of Galatia:

Grace and peace to you from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of our God and Father:

To whom belongs the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

¶ I am astonished that you are so quickly turning away from him who called you into the grace of Christ to a different gospel:

Which is not really a gospel; but some who want to pervert the gospel of Christ are troubling you.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any gospel to you other than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

As we have told you before, I tell you again, If anyone preaches any gospel to you other than the one you received, let him be accursed.

¶ Am I now trying to win the favor of men, or God? Am I striving to please men? If I were yet seeking the favor of men, I would not be the servant of Christ.

But I want you to know, brethren, that the gospel I preached was not devised by man.

For I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it, on the contrary I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

For you have heard of how I conducted myself in the past in the Jewish religion, how I violently persecuted the church of God, and devastated it:

And I advanced in the Jewish religion beyond many countrymen of my own generation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,

To reveal his Son in me, so that I might preach him among the heathen; I did not confer with any man:

Nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; instead I immediately went to Arabia, and later returned to Damascus.

Then three years later I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days.

But I did not see any of the other apostles, only James the Lord’s brother.

Now I assure you before God that what I am writing to you is no lie.

Afterwards I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

And the Christian congregations of Judea did not see me:

But they continued to hear, That he who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith that he once destroyed.

And they glorified God because of me.
