FIRST TIMOTHY

First Timothy 4

¶ Now the Spirit specifically says, that in the future some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Forbidding to marry, or commanding to abstain from certain foods, that God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

For everything God created is good, and nothing has to be rejected, when it is received with thanksgiving:

For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

¶ If you remind the brethren of these things, you will be a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, and be nourished by the words of faith and the good doctrine, that you have followed.

Now do not waste your time on profane myths and old wives’ tales, but exercise yourself in respect to godliness.

For physical exercise has little spiritual value: but godliness is valuable in every way, having promise for the life that now is, and for that which is to come.

In fact, that is a trustworthy statement, worthy of complete acceptance.

Yea, it is for that that we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

That is what you should teach and enforce.

Let no man despise your youth; but set an example for the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.

Until I arrive, attend to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching, and to teaching.

Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with laying on of the hands by the council of elders.

Attend to these things; devote yourself to them; so that everyone will be able to see what you have accomplished.

Keep close watch on yourself, and on your doctrine; and hold to it: for by doing so you will both save yourself, and those who hear you.
