FIRST TIMOTHY

First Timothy 2

¶ I First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercession, and giving of thanks, be made on behalf of all men;

For kings, and for all who are in authority; so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;

Who wants all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Who gave himself a ransom for all, which was testified to in due time.

And for that purpose I was appointed a preacher, and apostle, (I am speaking the truth in Christ, not lying;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Therefore I want the men in every location to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

¶ Likewise, I would have the women dress modestly, with decency and propriety; not with elaborate hairdos, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel;

But that which is appropriate for women who profess to be godly, together with good works.

A woman should learn in silence with all subjection.

But I do not allow a woman to teach, or to have authority over a man, but to remain silent.

For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

And Adam was not the one deceived, but the woman being deceived led in transgression.

Nevertheless she will be saved, and find fulfillment in child-rearing, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with sobriety.
