FIRST THESSALONIANS

First Thessalonians 1

¶ Paul, Silas, and Timothy, to the congregation of the Thessalonians who are in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¶ We always thank God for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers;

Continually remembering, before our God and Father, your work of faith, your labor of love, and your unwavering hope in our Lord Jesus Christ;

Having come to know, brethren how God loves you, and has chosen you.

For our gospel did not come to you only in word, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and with much assurance; and you know how we conducted ourselves among you for your sake.

¶ And you became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in spite of severe persecution, with the joy of the Holy Ghost:

So that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.

For the word of the Lord has sounded forth from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone forth; so that we do not need to say a thing.

For they themselves volunteer testimony concerning us, as to how we were received by you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who has rescued us from the wrath to come.
