FIRST CORINTHIANS

First Corinthians 13

¶ Though I speak in the languages of men and of angels, if I do not have love, I have become like sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, if I do not have love, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, if I do not have love, I have gained nothing.

¶ Love is patient, and is kind; love does not envy; love does not act superior, and is not puffed up,

Love is not rude, does not seek its own, is not easily provoked, it keeps no record of wrongs;

It does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

¶ Love will never cease: but where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are languages, they will cease; where there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

But when that which is perfect comes, then that which is in part will cease to be.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I reasoned as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

For what we now see is like a dim reflection on a glass; but then we will see face to face: now I know in part; but then I will know even as I am known.

And now these three remain, faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.
