1 ¶ The word of the LORD came to me again, saying,

2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:

3 And they became prostitutes in Egypt; they became whores when they were young: there their breasts were pressed, and there their virgin nipples were fondled.

4 And the name of the oldest was Aholah, and the name of her sister was Aholibah: and they became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. Aholah is the name for Samaria, and Aholibah is the name for Jerusalem.

5 And Aholah acted like a prostitute even though she was mine; and she lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians who were nearby,

6 Governors and high officers who were clothed in blue, all of them handsome young men, cavalry men riding on horses.

7 So she committed her whoredoms with them, all of them were the elite of Assyria, and she defiled herself with the idols of all those she lusted after.

8 Nor did she give up the prostitution that began in Egypt: for in her youth men laid with her there, and they fondled her girlish bosom, and poured their sinful desire upon her.

9 Therefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, whom she lusted after.

10 They exposed her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: and because they executed judgement upon her, she became notorious among women.

11 ¶ And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she became more depraved in her sinful love than her sister, and was more shameless in her prostitution than her sister.

12 She lusted after the Assyrians who were nearby, governors and officers clothed impressively, cavalry men riding on horses, all of them handsome young men.

13 Then I saw that she had defiled herself, that both sisters were doing the same thing,

14 But she went even further in her prostitution: for when she saw pictures of men on the wall, the images of the Chaldeans painted with red,

15 With belts around their waists, and flowing turbans on their heads, all of them looking like princes, pictures of Babylonian men whose native land was Chaldea:

16 And as soon as she saw them, she fell in love with them, and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.

17 And the Babylonians came to her love bed, and they defiled her with their evil desire, and after she was polluted by them, she turned away from them in disgust.

18 So she flaunted her wickedness, and exposed her nakedness: and I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister in disgust.

19 Still she increased her prostitution, recalling the days of her youth, when she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

20 For she lusted after her lovers, whose fleshly lust was like that of donkeys, and whose emission was like that of horses.

21 So you tried again to be immoral as in your youth, when the Egyptians fondled your bosoms because you had youthful breasts.

22 ¶ Therefore, O Aholibah, the Lord GOD says this; Behold, I will stir up your lovers against you, those from whom you turn away in disgust, and I will bring them against you on every side;

23 The Babylonians, and the Chaldeans, the men of Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, along with all the Assyrians: all of them desirable young men, governors and officers, high officials and men of renown, all of them riding on horses.

24 And they will come against you with chariots, wagons, and weapons, and with a massive army, from all around they will come against you with small and large shields and helmets: for I have commissioned them to judge you, and they will judge you and pronounce their verdicts.

25 And I will direct my jealous anger against you, and they will deal with you furiously: cutting off your noses and your ears; and striking down with the sword those who remain: they will take away your sons and your daughters; and burn up what is left behind.

26 They will also strip off your clothes, and take away your beautiful jewels.

27 Thus I will put an end to your lewdness, and your sexual immorality which began in the land of Egypt: so that you will not look longingly to them, or remember Egypt any longer.

28 For the Lord GOD says this; Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of those whom you hate, into the hand of those who you have turned away from in disgust:

29 And they will deal with you hatefully, and will take away all you have worked for, and will leave you naked and bare: and the shame of your prostitution will be exposed, both your lewdness and your evil behavior.

30 I will do these things to you, because you have prostituted yourself before the heathen, and because you are polluted with their idols.

31 You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I place her cup in your hand.

32 The Lord GOD says; You will drink from your sister’s cup which is deep and wide: you will be an object of ridicule and scorn; for it contains much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of destruction and terror, with the cup of your sister Samaria.

34 You will even drink it and drain it, and you will gnaw at its fragments, and tear at your breasts: for I have decreed it, says the Lord GOD.

35 Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says; Because you have forgotten me, and thrown me behind your back, you will have to suffer for your lusting and prostitution.

36 ¶ The LORD also said to me; Son of man, will you judge Aholah and Aholibah? then declare their abominations to them;

37 For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands, they have committed spiritual adultery with their idols, and have also caused the sons, that they bore to me, to pass through the fire to their idols, to be consumed by them.

38 They also did this to me: they defiled my sanctuary on that same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.

39 For when they had killed their children for their idols, then on the same day they went into my sanctuary to profane it; see, that is what they have done in my temple.

40 And furthermore, you sent for men to come from afar, to whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: and you washed yourself for them, painted your eyes, and adorned yourself with jewelry,

41 And sat on a ornate couch, with a table spread before it, on which you placed my incense and my oil.

42 And the sound of a reckless crowd was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought drunkards from the wilderness, who put bracelets on the hands of both sisters, and beautiful crowns on their heads.

43 Then I thought concerning this woman made old by adultery, Will they still commit whoredom with her, and she with them?

44 Yet they went in to her, as they go in to a woman who is a prostitute: so went they in to Aholah and to Aholibah, the lewd women.

45 And the righteous men, will judge them as adulteresses, and as murderers; because they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.

46 For the Lord GOD says; I will summon an assembly against them, and will consign them to terror and plunder.

47 And the assembly will stone them with stones, and cut them down with their swords; they will slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.

48 In this way I will bring an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may be warned not to lust like them.

49 You will be punished for your immorality, and you will suffer because of your sinful adultery: and you will know that I am the Lord GOD.
