THE BOOK OF EZEKIEL

Ezekiel Chapter 11

¶ Then the spirit lifted me up, and brought me to the eastern gate of the LORD’S house, which faces eastward: and I saw twenty-five men at the entrance of the gate; and among them I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.

Then he said to me, Son of man, these are the men who plan evil, and give wicked advice in this city:

Who say, The time is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we are the meat.

Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.

And the Spirit of the LORD came upon me, and said to me, Say; The LORD says; I know what you are saying, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

You have killed many in this city, and you have filled its streets with dead men.

Therefore the Lord GOD says this; Your slain whom you have laid in your midst, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will remove you from it.

You are afraid of the sword; so I will bring a sword upon you, says the Lord GOD.

I will remove you from the city, and hand you over to foreigners, and will execute judgments against you.

You will fall by the sword; I will judge you on the border of Israel; and you will know that I am the LORD.

This city will not be your caldron, nor will you be the meat in it; but I will judge you on the border of Israel:

And you will know that I am the LORD: for you have not walked in my statutes, or carried out my judgments, but have behaved according to the fashion of the heathen that are around you.

And as I prophesied, Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, saying, O Lord GOD! will you destroy those who are left of Israel?

¶ Then the word of the LORD again came to me, saying,

Son of man, the people of Jerusalem have said about your own relatives, your brethren, and all the exiles of Israel, They are far from the LORD: this country is given to us as our possession.

Therefore say, The Lord GOD says; Although I have sent them far away among the heathen, and have scattered them among the nations for a little while, I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.

Therefore say, The Lord GOD says; I will gather you from the peoples, and bring you together from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

And when they return there, they will throw out of it all the detestable things and all the abominations that are there.

And I will give them one mind, and I will put a new spirit in them; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh:

That they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them: and they will be my people, and I will be their God.

But as for those whose heart yearns for their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring down their actions on their own heads, says the Lord GOD.

¶ Then the cherubim raised their wings, with the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.

And the glory of the LORD went up from the middle of the city, and stood on the mountain that is on the east side of the city.

Then in the vision given to me by the Spirit of God, the spirit lifted me up, and brought me into Chaldea, to those of the captivity. And so the vision that I had seen departed from me.

Then I told the exiles in captivity all the things that the LORD had revealed to me.
